BBP: How would you describe your art in 5 words?

MissMalagata: Delicate, funny, joyful, sweet and minimal

BBP: What inspires you to make art?

MissMalagata: Photography of animals and nature is a great source of inspiration for me.

BBP: Do you have one creative process for making your art or does it change?

MissMalagata: I used to hand-draw everything, but after finishing my graphic design studies I follow the process of drawing it first with pencil or pen, and then using tools like Photoshop or Illustrator.

BBP: Do you have a special time of day when you work best?

MissMalagata: No. I work any time of the day, morning, afternoon, or even at night. It doesn’t matter to me.

BBP: How has your art style evolved over time?

MissMalagata: My style remains the same, the only thing that has changed is my accuracy and how detailed my pieces are.

BBP: What is your favorite part about being an artist?

MissMalagata: Having the freedom to create whatever I want and the beautiful comments that people make about my artwork through social networks.

BBP: What is the hardest thing about being an artist?

MissMalagata: Living off of it

BBP: What art supply/program/etc is indispensable to your process?

MissMalagata: Photoshop & Illustrator.

BBP: Do you have kids?

MissMalagata: No, I don’t have any kids.

BBP: Who was your biggest role model when you were little?

MissMalagata: My mother. I always wanted to be like her. She’s a fighter, but also a loving and good person. I couldn’t have a better mom!

BBP: Did you draw/design as a kid or did you start as an adult?

MissMalagata: I’ve been drawing since I was a child and have loved it my whole life.

BBP: How would you advise parents who want to encourage their kids to appreciate/enjoy art?

MissMalagata: When I was a child my parents put me in painting classes and they went very well. I encourage all parents to do the same, it gives children a chance to explore their creativity and show off their potential.

BBP: How was your room decorated as a kid?

MissMalagata: I had some stuffed animals, but not many, my room was mostly full of chalk drawings, paintings,  and watercolors. There was a blackboard in my room and I would spend my afternoons doodling on it.

BBP: Which piece is your favorite on BoomBoom Prints?

MissMalagata: I am a fan of ALL of the tote bags.

BBP: Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

MissMalagata: I have a weakness for cats, especially my cats. I have two named Greta and Jupiter. Greta has been with me for 6 years and it is from her I came up with the name MissMalagata.  Jupiter was picked up from the street three months ago and is fun and loving.

BBP: Summer or winter?

MissMalagata: Winter

BBP: What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

MissMalagata: Mint and chocolate.

BBP: Are you a night owl or an early bird?

MissMalagata: Early bird

BBP: Sweet or salty food?

MissMalagata: Both

BBP: Dream vacation spot?

MissMalagata: I love the United States, especially San Francisco & NY.
